Vergennes hires finance veteran as treasurer

VERGENNES — Vergennes has hired an Addison resident with extensive private sector accounting and business management experience to be its new city treasurer.

The Vergennes City Council appointed Angela L. Bolduc, who for the past 17 years has worked as business manager of Frost Wells & Pumps Inc. in East Dorset, to the post on Tuesday.

City Manager Ron Redmond recommended Bolduc to the council as the best candidate out of a field of 22 applicants, and the council finalized her appointment after a closed-door interview during its Tuesday meeting.

“She’s just perfect for the job,” Redmond said on Wednesday. “She really understands accounting.”

Bolduc’s vetting process included acing a New England Municipal Resource Center (NEMRC) accounting test and interview. NEMRC personnel have been working with the city this summer to mind the ledger while the city sought a replacement for former treasurer Abbie Farrar, who left in June.

Redmond said Bolduc also met approval with the rest of the Vergennes City Hall personnel during an interview.

“The most important part was her interview by my staff. The ability to collaborate is important,” he said.

A New Haven native, Bolduc earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Colby Sawyer College in 1995. Her résumé also includes a long list of computer competencies.

Her resume includes four years as a financial manager for  Wright Construction Co. Inc. in Mount Holly, shorter stints as an assistant controller at The Stratton Mountain Inn & Village Lodge and The Inn of the Six Mountains in Killington, and two years as an administrative assistant with the Addison Northwest Supervisory Union.
