Lawrence “Chip” Gamache, 64, of Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY — Lawrence “Chip” Gamache, age 64, died peacefully at home in Middlebury, Vt., on May 5, 2021, following a valiant battle with cancer.
He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of Lawrence and Kathryn Gamache. Chip attended schools in South Plainfield, N.J. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1974, serving with the Seabees and on the super carrier U.S.S. Nimitz. He was employed by Standard Register, and was self-employed in various aspects of construction for many years. He was a lifelong fan of the N.Y. Yankees and the N.Y. Giants. Chip was an excellent cook and loved to cook for family and friends. He always enjoyed having fun with his many friends in and around Middlebury. One of the places nearest and dearest to his heart was Sovie’s Evergreen Cottages on the St. Lawrence River in Ogdensburg, N.Y., where he loved spending time with cherished friends and family.
Chip is survived by his mother, Kathryn Gamache of New Jersey; his sisters Nicole (Al) Colantoni of Florida, and Laurie (Vic) Kurilew of New Jersey; as well as his many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved companion, Willow Wheelock.
He was predeceased by his father, Lawrence Gamache.
There will be no services. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
