Ilsley Library to host Rural America talk on March 4
MIDDLEBURY — Whitney Kimball Coe, coordinator of the National Rural Assembly, will discuss rural America’s opportunities for helping the country confront growing problems in a talk at Ilsley Public Library in Middlebury on Wednesday, March 4, at 7 p.m. Her talk, “Rural America is a Big Deal,” is part of the Vermont Humanities Council’s First Wednesdays lecture series and is free and open to the public.
Kimball Coe will show that although rural communities are hurting, they also hold a wealth of solutions for a nation struggling to fuel its economy, feed a hungry planet, and take on global issues like climate change.
Kimball Coe is Director of National Programs for the Center for Rural Strategies and also serves as coordinator of the Rural Assembly, a rural movement made up of activities and partnerships geared toward building better policy and more opportunity across the country.
