SBA stops accepting new applications for some business relief programs

MONTPELIER — The Vermont District Office of the federal Small Business Administration late on Thursday said it did not have the money to bring in any more businesses to two COVID-19 relief programs.
“The Small Business Administration is unable to accept new applications at this time for the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL)-COVID-19 related assistance program including EIDL Advances based on available appropriations funding,” the office said in a release. “And the SBA is currently unable to accept new applications for the Paycheck Protection Program based on available appropriations funding.”
Officials assured applicants who have already submitted their applications that they would continue to be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
