GERALDINE “GERRY” MYRICK

MIDDLEBURY — Geraldine “Gerry” Myrick, 83, of Middlebury, passed away at the Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center on Oct. 23, 2020, after a long period of declining health. She was courageous and kept her sense of humor to the end.
She was born Geraldine June White in 1937, the youngest of five children, to William H. and Isabelle Noble White of Middlebury. Gerry married her high school sweetheart, Duane, shortly after graduating from high school. She was a dedicated and beloved wife, mother and grandmother. For several years she served as the secretary for Rev. Wally Anderson, pastor of the Middlebury Congregational Church, and also worked part-time for the County Clerk’s office.
Gerry will be remembered by friends and family for her quick sense of humor and her free-spirited nature. She loved the natural beauty of her home state. During foliage season she and Duey traveled the back roads of several counties taking in the seasonal splendor. They also enjoyed annual trips to the Maine coast for many years. Among her favorite pastimes were gardening, bird- and people-watching, reading and listening to music. Gerry loved the simple pleasures of small-town life in Vermont: street dances in the 60s and 70s, music in the park, swimming at Branbury and skating in the Field House by season, high school football games and visiting with her cherished friends. She and Duey were also enthusiastic followers of local college sports, especially hockey.
Gerry was predeceased by her husband in May 2019, as well as by her parents and all of her siblings. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Janice Whitman of St. Albans; four children, Leslie (Martha Rust) of Manhattan, Kenneth (Laurie) of Port Henry, Julie (Michael Wolfe) of Brooklyn, and Paula Eisenberg (Jamie) of Underhill; and two grandchildren, Allison Myrick of Vergennes and Dylan Myrick of Ferrisburgh, as well as several nephews and nieces.
A private family memorial will be held in the spring. The family would like to thank the entire Helen Porter staff for their excellent care over the past year, as well as the dedicated staff from Addison County Home Health and Hospice for helping to make her last passage comfortable. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to these fine institutions.◊
