Bee’s Wrap business sold

MIDDLEBURY — A private investor has purchased Bee’s Wrap, a Middlebury maker of food storage wrappings.
Champlain Capital, a company founded in Norwich, Vt., and now with offices in Boston and San Francisco, did not disclose the price it paid for Bee’s Wrap. The transaction closed Feb. 4.
Founded in 2012 in Sarah Kaeck’s New Haven basement, Bee’s Wrap has been very successful in developing and marketing a versatile and durable wrap made of cloth covered in bee’s wax. After a move to a bigger production space in Bristol, the company moved to the former Sear’s space on Exchange Street in Middlebury two years ago, and last year expanded into a new 6,900-square-foot building that was constructed next door.
Bee’s Wrap has grown dramatically since its founding, selling its product globally, both online through its website, Amazon, on-line retailers and traditional “bricks-and-mortar” retailers. “There’s still enormous potential for our brand to continue to grow into new markets and channels, and Champlain Capital will provide the experiences and resources that facilitate this growth,” Kaeck said. “It’s an exciting time for our company.”
