CITY OF VERGENNES: INFORMATIONAL MEETING
The City of Vergennes will hold a public informational hearing on Monday, November 2,
2026, at 6:00PM at The Vergennes Opera House. The meeting is a public
informational meeting regarding three important ballot questions that voters will consider
on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. The informational hearing will provide residents with
an opportunity to learn more about the following ballot articles and ask questions before
voting.
ARTICLE I
Shall general obligation bonds or notes of the City of Vergennes in an additional
amount not to exceed Twenty-Two Million Dollars ($22,000,000) be issued for the
purpose of financing the cost of improvements to the City’s wastewater collection
system and treatment facility, the estimated cost of such improvements being
Fifty-Four Million Dollars ($54,000,000)? Such borrowing is conditioned on the
following:
- The aggregate principal amount of general obligation bonds or notes
issued for these improvements pursuant to Article 2 approved on March
1, 2022 and pursuant to this Article shall not exceed Thirty-Nine Million
Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($39,500,000); and - Grants, subsidies, principal forgiveness, ARPA funds, City funds, and
other available resources shall be applied to eligible project costs and
may reduce the amount of debt actually issued.
The legal voters of the City of Vergennes are further notified that voter
qualification, registration and absentee voting relative to said meeting shall be
as provided in Chapters 43, 51 and 55 of Title 17, Vermont Statutes Annotated.
The legal voters of the City of Vergennes are further notified that an informational
meeting will be held on Monday, November 2, 2026 at Vergennes Opera House in
the City of Vergennes at six o’clock (6:00) in the evening (p.m.), for the purpose of
explaining the proposed improvements and the financing thereof. Such meeting
will be available by Zoom as well.
Voting Information: Voting will be on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, from 9:00 AM – 7:00
PM at St. Peter’s Parish Hall, 85 South Maple Street, Vergennes, VT 05491. Residents are
encouraged to attend the informational hearing, ask questions, and learn more about
each of these important ballot questions before casting their votes.
