Opinion: Ron Holmes is misleading voters

My son, Michael Elmore, is the current Addison County sheriff. Recently there have been numerous campaign signs appearing promoting his opponent, Ron Holmes. The large lettering indicates that the candidate is “Sheriff Ron Holmes.” Ron is not the sheriff and never has been elected as a sheriff.
Recently, a mailing from Ron went out with more deceptive and misleading information. Ron cites his 25 years of experience in law enforcement. His 25 years was actually as a part-time, and per diem employee. He was never a full-time employee. His employment in law enforcement ended 14 years ago in 2012. He is no longer a certified as a law enforcement officer yet appears in uniform in his campaign ad.

He directs people to visit his website, but that website was from his last 2022 campaign and no longer exists. There is no access to any position statement that would give an explanation as to why someone should vote for him.

Ron touts honesty as one of his strengths. Along with the above issues, he has missed the last three financial filing statement deadlines, and as of this date has not filed anything for the July 31 due date.

Addison County residents deserve a Sheriff’s Department that has demonstrated integrity, honestly, while meeting regulatory and budgetary guidelines. They have that with Michael and the solid staff that make up the organization.
