Vermont Police Log: Leicester man killed in UTV crash
ADDISON COUNTY — A Leicester man was killed last Tuesday when his four-wheeler went off the road south of Fern Lake and struck a tree.
Police report that Craig Disorda, 50, of Leicester was driving a Can-Am Defender utility terrain vehicle southbound on Lake Dunmore Road when the UTV left the travel portion of the road between Fern Lake Road and Red Gate Road, and it hit a tree.
The Brandon Area Rescue Squad and Rutland Regional Ambulance Service responded and took Disorda to Rutland Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The crash is still under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has any relevant information is asked to call the New Haven state police barracks at 802-388-4919.
The only other state police action in Addison County that the force deemed worthy of reporting was an impaired driving case on June 17. At 1:19 p.m. that Wednesday, troopers were notified that a driver had crashed a vehicle into some property on Route 7 south of Vergennes near Woodman Court in Waltham.
Police found that no one was injured, but it talking to the driver, identified as 47-year-old Kevin Odell of Middlebury, they saw indicators that he was impaired. Officers took Odell to the New Haven barracks, cited him for driving under the influence of drugs and released him.
State police were assisted on scene by the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad and Vergennes Fire Department.
