Vergennes Police Log: Accusations traded

A person driving a municipal work vehicle was accused of speeding by a bystander, after that person’s partner was issued a citation for an incident involving the operator.

Vermont State Police have dealt with a rash of typical criminal activity, including impaired driving, speeding and a car crash.

Troopers arrested a driver on suspicion of DUI, while a deputy remained with the vehicle until it was towed.

Police also took into protective custody a baby bunny that had been turned into headquarters.

Among the items police did deal with was helping a person by providing information on how to file a complaint with the Vermont Human Rights Commission.

The woman was cited for allegedly damaging security cameras and apartment windows.

Police also recently recovered an ATM they believe is connected to a theft in Bristol.

Police reported a relatively quiet Independence Day Weekend except for two incidents of assault.

This is just the most recent spate in what has been a months-long issue.

During that week, police also responded to two incidents involving suspicious activity and two thefts.

A Bristol man who had two previous domestic assault convictions was arrested last Thursday.

Between June 7 and 27, the Sheriff’s Department stopped 128 vehicles for various violations.

Middlebury police were informed of the theft of an ATM machine from the A&W Restaurant on Route 7 South on June 19.

Police report that Craig Disorda, 50, of Leicester was driving a Can-Am Defender utility terrain vehicle and it hit a tree.
