Elderly Services hosts Age Well presentation

MIDDLEBURY—Elderly Services and the Senior Neighbors Network, in collaboration with Age Well, will host a free community event on April 8, 2:30 p.m. at Elderly Services, 112 Exchange St., Middlebury. The 45-minute presentation outlines the many services offered by Age Well for independent seniors in Addison County who wish to age in place, focusing on the needs of area seniors, their family members and caregivers, or anyone interested in simply learning more about the wide array of programs intended to support older adults living safely and independently at home.

The program will be led by Jason Farrell, Chief Operating Officer at Age Well. For more than 50 years, Age Well has been helping Vermonters and their families through vital services, including Meals on Wheels, care coordination, wellness programs, transportation and caregiver support, but many people still do not know how to access these services.

This event is sponsored by Addison County’s Senior Neighbors Network, a new program affiliated with Elderly Services. The goal of the Senior Neighbors Network is to develop support, resources, and a network to help seniors in Addison County thrive as they age in place. Kristin Bolton, Executive Director of Elderly Services, says the Senior Neighbors Network fills an important gap in our community. “Many older adults want to age in place and to stay in their homes as long as possible. Helping people age successfully in their homes and communities is a big part of our mission at Elderly Services. It’s inspiring to see how in less than 6 months the Senior Neighbors Network has already started developing a network to share resources and talents as well as become actively engaged in making Addison County a great place to grow older.”

The Senior Neighbors Network meets 1-2 times monthly at Elderly Services and welcomes new members to join its meetings, social events, and collaboration for home maintenance support. The group is also exploring membership in the Village-to-Village Network. There is no cost to attend the meetings. After the Age Well presentation, the Senior Neighbors Network will have its monthly meeting; all are welcome.
