Vergennes Police Log for Mar. 14

VERGENNES — During a mostly quiet week between March 4 and 10, Vergennes police dealt with a minor theft, a complaint of a person trying to get into cars at a city home, a parking problem, and a couple of instances where they worked on behalf of the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad.

During those seven days, Vergennes police conducted nine patrols by cruiser and three on foot, one property watch and 10 traffic stops; processed two pre-employment fingerprint requests; responded to a false alarm; and also:

On March 6, heard from a Sunset Drive homeowner that his security camera had captured someone trying to enter locked cars; police are investigating.

On March 7:

• Heard from a young woman that youths were ringing Monkton Road doorbells and then running away.

• Conducted a background check.

• Tried in vain to find car keys belonging to a person VARS had picked up at Shaw’s Supermarket. 

On March 8:

• Took a report of a fender-bender at Vergennes Union High School.

• Were told a person stole an Twisted Tea alcoholic beverage from Kinney Drug Store, an incident police are investigating.

On March 9:

• Drove a woman experiencing mental health issues from VARS headquarters on Panton Road to her West Ferrisburgh home.

• Helped VARS lift a patient during a South Maple Street call.

• Asked the owners of vehicles blocking Main Street traffic to move them.
