New Haven farm, UVM to unveil grazing changes
NEW HAVEN — Brian and Cindy Kayhart will welcome farmers to Chalker Farm in New Haven on July 1 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. to share how they transitioned more of their acreage to pasture and shifted toward management-intensive grazing principles, including converting cropland and constructing new laneways and an underpass for safer cattle travel.
Hosted by University of Vermont Extension’s Northwest Crops and Soils Program, this pasture walk will give farmers an insight into how other farmers are managing their pasture-based operations.
It is free, but registration is required. Farmers may bring their own lunch; water and snacks will be provided. Register at KayhartChalkerFarm.eventbrite.com by June 30.
