Multiple domestic assault counts land Cornwall man in jail

MONTPELIER — A Cornwall man will spend at least several months in jail after being found guilty of multiple counts of domestic assault.

The Attorney General’s Office this week announced that Kevin Tower, 29, of Cornwall was sentenced Monday in Vermont Superior Court, Addison Criminal Division, on six felony counts of first-degree aggravated domestic assault, one misdemeanor count of domestic assault, and one misdemeanor count of violation of conditions of release.

Judge Alison Arms sentenced Tower to two to five years in prison, all suspended but 10 months, with probation until further order of the court. Arms said that his probation conditions include that he cannot use any controlled substance without a valid prescription, must submit to random urinalyses, must comply with electronic monitoring, must attend substance abuse treatment, must complete a domestic violence accountability education program, and must have no contact with the victim of his crime.

Tower was also banned from possessing, purchasing or using any firearms or other deadly weapons.

If he violates his terms of probation, Tower faces up to five years in jail.
