MARGARET SMITH

MIDDLEBURY — Margaret Smith, 82, a longtime resident of Middlebury, passed away at The University of Vermont Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born in Pine Plains, N.Y., to Larry and Grace Smith, Margaret was the youngest of six children with her siblings (Robert, Fred, Virginia, James, and Mary) predeceasing her.

Margaret is survived by her life mate, John Danyow, and several nieces and nephews.

Until her retirement, Margaret held several positions in the Danforth Pewter Company.

While in Middlebury, she was often a part of John’s racing team at local stock car circuits. Also, family gatherings on Lake Dunmore with her siblings were a large part of her life. After retiring, she and John enjoyed summers in Middlebury and winters in Florida.

It was Margaret’s desire to have no calling hours or services but rather you remember her in your own personal way. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Homeward Bound, Addison County’s Humane Society.◊
