MIDDLEBURY— The new clock at Ralph Myhre Golf Course isn’t just there to keep golfers on schedule — it’s a quiet tribute to a man who lived with intention — C. Deem “Doc” Schoenfeld, a longtime presence at the course, who played two rounds the same week he died on May 19, 2024.

His grandson Scott Schoenfeld said Deem was never sentimental about memorials, but if anything were to honor him, it made sense it would be at his favorite course.

The idea for the clock, which stands right outside the clubhouse, came together through a community effort — friends from the course pitched in on everything from electrical work to landscaping. For the family, they said seeing it installed brought a sense of peace. It just felt right.

Now, the clock stands as a reminder, not just to keep time, but to cherish it — echoing Deem’s belief in being present.

And, Scott added with a laugh, his grandfather would probably say: “Just don’t miss your tee time.”
