Middlebury Police Log: Single-vehicle crash ends with DUI citation
MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Jared Burlingame, 27, of Colchester for driving under the influence following their investigation of a single-vehicle accident in the Court Square area on Dec. 27.
Police began their investigation after spotting what they described as a “damaged” vehicle parked at the side of Court Square at around 10:40 p.m. this past Friday. Officers said they determined the driver of the vehicle had attempted to drive off after having crashed into a street sign near the intersection of North Pleasant and Main streets.
Police allege that while speaking with the driver, Burlingame, they observed signs of impairment. During his processing for DUI, Burlingame refused to provide an evidentiary breath sample, according to police.
