Amy Clapp — whose science contributions to Salisbury Community School have been the stuff of legend during the past quarter-century — was recently named a winner of a Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, the nation’s highest distinction for instruction in science, technology, engineering, mathematics or computer science.

This past March, a total of 86 residents attended Bristol’s town meeting — 66 in person and 20 listening in on Zoom. Bristol town officials and community members are now exploring ways to attract more people to the annual event, such as by offering free childcare and starting the meeting an hour earlier. They’re not alone.
