Letter to the editor: Looking ahead to solar vote
Much appreciation to Andy Kirkaldy for his ongoing excellent coverage of the Panton solar issue.
It should be noted that the non-binding advisory vote scheduled for November 5th is a voter-petitioned vote. Five percent of registered Panton voters signed a petition that was submitted to the selectboard requesting the vote be held. The issue has been so hotly contested we the voters felt this was the fairest way to proceed.
We are hopeful our iconic natural beauty will be saved from egregious industrial development and preserved for future generations of both humans and wildlife. Paving rural Vermont with massive slabs of solar panels would be an abomination.
Some things are priceless and irreplaceable. The idea of taking away what makes Vermont, Vermont is unfathomable.
