Letter to the editor: Olson a good pick for House
I hope you’ll consider voting for Herb Olson to serve in the Vermont House, representing Bristol, Lincoln, Monkton and Starksboro. I have known Herb as a neighbor, a friend and a partner on a variety of community development projects for past 40+ years. Herb’s commitment to local public education, his past community volunteer work as a member of the local Starksboro Planning Commission, his ongoing community advocacy, and his legal experience — particularly as a member of the Vermont Legislative Counsel (providing legal and editorial services to the Vermont General Assembly) — make him a great choice to represent us in the Legislature.
In all of my experience working with Herb, he has shown great skill, focus, energy, caring and unwavering commitment to equity and fairness. Herb is determined to assist in fixing the education property tax mess by looking at the root causes of high taxes. He knows that closing our rural elementary schools is not the answer. Herb’s priorities also include making sure that state housing policy includes initiatives that work in rural Vermont, as well as in urban areas. Herb will be an informed, collaborative member of the Vermont House, who advocates effectively for the interests of the community and responds to constituent questions and concerns.
The Primary Election on August 13 includes this contested Democratic race for the Vermont House. Please vote for Herb Olson for Addison-4 Vermont House in that election.
