VUHS boys go OT, fall on road

WAITSFIELD — Host Green Mountain Valley on Sept. 1 prevailed over the Vergennes Union High School boys’ soccer team, 2-1 in double overtime in the season opener for both teams. 

Biel Aytes’s goal with 5:50 on the clock in the second extra session was the game-winner. 

Borja Ochoa notched the other Gumby tally, and two GMVS goalies combined for seven saves.

Oakley Francis scored for the Commodores, and goalie Devin Brisson stopped nine shots.

The Commodores are off until they host Enosburg on Sept. 12.
