After three quick strikes into the back of the net from Vergennes Union High School freshman forward Sophia James on Saturday, the visiting Lyndon girls’ soccer team was out of the game. The Vikings, who showed up with just 11 players in steamy weather, weren’t coming back from an 3-0 deficit less than eight minutes after the kickoff.

Boys’ soccer players honored

Seven local high school boys’ soccer players were named to the Division II or III All-State Teams, and another 23 earned recognition from either the Lake Division or the Southern Vermont League B Division.
