Middlebury Police Log: East Midd playground vandalized

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police responded to a report on June 15 of someone having sprayed-painted graffiti on the East Middlebury playground off Schoolhouse Hill Road.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

• Assisted a local family having domestic issues on June 12.

• Advised a Merchants Row business about options for dealing with a person who was causing problems for its staff on June 12.

• Checked on the welfare of a man found sleeping in the grass off Middle Road North at around 5 p.m. on June 12.

• Investigated a report of suspicious activity outside a Washington Street apartment on June 12.

• Gave a person a ride to the Tri-Valley Transit bus stop on Academy Street on June 12.

• Responded to a minor two-vehicle collision in the parking lot of Dunkin Donuts on Court Street on June 12.  

• Took a report on June 12 of a person allegedly using a vehicle without the Munger Street owner’s consent on June 12.

• Gave an elderly person a ride back to their Washington Street residence on June 13.

• Found a houseless person sleeping at the entrance of a Creek Road business on June 13. Police directed the person to social services.

• Were informed that a minor had been found in possession of a vape device at Middlebury Union High School on June 14.

• Assisted Vermont State Police in evaluating a potentially impaired driver on Route 7 on June 15.

• Responded to a domestic disturbance in the Case Street area on June 15.

• Investigated a report about a potential drunken driver in the Weybridge Street area on June 15.

• Received a complaint at around 10:50 p.m. on June 15 from a Cedar Court resident concerned about construction noise in the area.

• Arrested Faith Stone, 30, of Middlebury on an outstanding arrest warrant on June 16.

• Found a firearm in the Court Street area and returned it to its owner on June 16.

• Were informed on June 17 that a theft had occurred at the TJ Maxx store the day before.

• Were informed of a suspected identity theft case on June 17.

• Assisted a local resident who was experiencing a mental health crisis on June 17.

• Collected abandoned bikes from a Court Street Extension parking lot on June 17.

• Received a report about a possible underage drinking party at a Case Street residence on June 18.

• Investigated a report of suspicious activity in the Halladay Road area on June 18.

• Were alerted by a local resident to a suspected scam through Instagram on June 18.

• Investigated a report of suspicious activity at a downtown business on June 19.
