Vergennes Police Log: Trucks stopped for speeding in the city

VERGENNES — Vergennes police on June 17 dealt with two commercial trucks they stopped for speeding on Main Street.

Police stopped the first truck for traveling 50 mph in a 30 mph zone and ticketed the driver for speeding, but found no other violations.

City police later that day pulled over another commercial vehicle for allegedly traveling 48 mph in a 30 mph zone, and this time found what they described as several minor violations, including the truck being slightly overweight and a logbook not being complete.

Police said they grounded the driver and vehicle for 10 hours, and issued a warning for the speeding violation.

In other action between June 14 and 20, city police conducted 11 patrols by cruiser and one on foot, and also:

On Jun 14:

Police said an elevator failure, an ongoing issue in the days leading up to the incident, led to several seniors with mobility issues being stranded on the ground floor.
