MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Alton P. Brown, 42, of Middlebury for driving while intoxicated (second offense), following a stop for speeding on East Main Street on March 22. Police said Brown refused to give a sample of his breath as evidence, and he was charged with criminal refusal.
In other action last week, Middlebury police:
•  Checked on March 23 on the welfare of a local person who had posted self-harm comments on social media. Police said the person was located in good condition.
•  Reported on March 23 that the Addison County Unit for Special Investigations (ACUSI) was investigating a report of possible child abuse in the Jackson Lane neighborhood.
•  Investigated a trespassing complaint in the North Pleasant Street neighborhood on March 23.
•  Assisted a driver who had accidentally driven off a paved surface onto a grassy area behind an Exchange Street building on March 24.
•  On March 24 assisted Vermont State Police at the scene of a disabled vehicle on Route 7 South, an incident that led to the location of two youths who had left their homes without their parents knowing. Police reunited the youths with their parents.
•  Served a final relief from abuse order on a local man on March 25.
•  Served a temporary relief from abuse order on a local man in the Skyline Lane area on March 25.
•  Intervened in a dispute between two tenants at a Route 7 South residence on March 25.
•  Conducted separate welfare checks on residents of Otter Side Court and Main Street on March 25.
•  Assisted in closing Painter Road due to wind damage on March 26. As reported on the Addison Independent website this weekend, a small tornado touched down in the area, injuring two people and causing severe damage to at least one residence.
•  Received an allegation on March 26 of a possible sexual assault in the Jayne Court area. The ACUSI is investigating.
•  Received a March 26 report of a South Village Green resident allegedly selling property they had been charged with holding for someone else.
•  Intervened in a March 27 argument between two Court Street neighbors over a piece of furniture.
•  Assisted state police with a disoriented hiker on the Moosalamoo trail system on March 27.
•  Responded to the report of an injured rabbit on Court Street on March 27.
•  Arrested Abigail Quesnel, 52, of Cornwall on an outstanding federal arrest warrant on March 27. Police said they took Quesnel to the Chittenden County Regional Correctional Facility.
•  Investigated a verbal domestic dispute at The Courtyard Marriott Hotel on March 27.
•  Responded to the report of a loud party on Washington Street on March 27. Police said they found the home vacant and no one in the area.
•  Responded to a noise complaint in the South Pleasant Street area on March 27. Police said they found people yelling outside a residence and restored peace.
•  Responded to another noise complaint on March 27, this one in the Briarwood Apartments complex.
•  Responded to a reported argument between two Hannaford Supermarket patrons on March 28. Police said one of the people in question had left before their arrival.
•  Received a request on March 28 for increased police presence in the Painter Road area where the tornado had damaged property.
•  Conducted a welfare check on a woman who had been making suicidal comments in the Court Street area on March 28. Police said the woman was connected with a family member.
