Pet Project: Brandon Artists Guild opens new exhibit

A WORK BY Catherine Palmer

BRANDON — The Brandon Artists Guild (BAG) announces its “Pet Project” — an animal-themed exhibit that celebrates all creatures great and small. The exhibit runs from March 5 through May 2. There will be a free closing reception on Friday, April 23, from 5-7 p.m.
The all-media, all-member show includes works in paint, fiber, glass, ceramics, collage, wood and more.
“We’re calling it ‘Pet Project’ because it’s truly a topic that’s near and dear to our hearts,” said dog lover and illustrator Ashley Wolff. “Plus, it’s about pets, of course. With so many people stuck at home these days, we’re spending more time with our animal companions and getting to know them better. Pets help keep us calm in these strange times.”
Because of COVID concerns, the BAG will be holding a closing reception in late April, rather than an opening reception in March.
Through April, the BAG is also featuring its ongoing “BLUE” exhibit, a pop-up mini show of member artists’ work that salutes the spectrum’s most versatile color, in all its moods.
“The qualities of blue run from cool and tranquil to bright and cheery,” said fabric artist Judith Reilly. “We love blue jeans, live under blue skies, get excited by blue moons, and try to shake off the winter blues.”
The BAG, at 7 Center Street in Brandon, is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Sundays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. For more information call (802) 247-4956 or visit BrandonArtistsGuild.org.
