Letter to the editor: ACSD board deserves support from community

I moved to Weybridge for the school. I love the Weybridge Elementary School. My daughter had an excellent 6th-grade experience, and my son has been in the school since kindergarten and is now a 6th-grader himself.
I have resisted the idea that our school would be closed as part of the school district’s master plan and consolidation efforts. To inform myself, I have been watching the school district e-chats and the recording of the Dec.14 school board meeting. And, despite my reservations and my deep affection for and appreciation of our school, I trust this school board, our district superintendent, and the district staff.
Their discussions are deeply thoughtful. They have worked mightily to include the community in conversation over the years and they continue in this effort. They are far more informed than I am in this matter. And they have our children’s education at heart. If it is their recommendation that we consolidate our elementary schools — and it appears that this is their unanimous recommendation — I trust their judgment.
I encourage voters in Weybridge to vote to stay in the school district.
