Middlebury Police Log: Man grabs beer, sandwich, then flees
MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police received a report that a potentially intoxicated man stole a beer and a breakfast sandwich from the Maplefields store on North Pleasant Street at 6:30 a.m. on Nov. 5.
Police said the man sped away in a vehicle.
In other action last week, Middlebury police:
• Responded to reports of a loud argument between a man and a woman on East Main Street on Nov. 2. Police said both people had left the area upon their arrival.
• Investigated reports of a homeless man camping on private property off Merchants Row on Nov. 2.
• Assisted a South Pleasant Street resident on Nov. 2 who had sought help after overdosing on medication. Police said Middlebury Regional Emergency Medical Services (MREMS) took the patient to Porter Hospital.
• Responded to a noise complaint at the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel on Nov. 3.
• Served a temporary restraining order on a man in the Case Street area on Nov. 3.
• Helped locate a Middlebury Union High School student who had missed his pickup time on campus on Nov. 3.
• Checked on a driver who had fallen asleep in his vehicle while it was parked at a gas pump at a Court Street filling station at around 4:20 a.m. on Nov. 3. Police said the man was exhausted from a late shift.
• Assisted Green Mountain Power at the scene of a low-hanging electrical wire on Seymour Street on Nov. 4.
• Investigated a report of someone loosening the lug-nuts on the wheels of a vehicle parked off Court Street on Nov. 5. Police said the victim suspects the incident stemmed from a dispute with another person.
• Received a report that someone had dug a large hole in the lawn of a South Main Street residence on Nov. 5. Police said the resident doesn’t know of any reason the hole was dug.
• Received a report of an alleged drug transaction off Court Street Extension on Nov. 5.
• Were informed of the theft of an iPod from a vehicle parked off Washington Street on Nov. 6.
• Investigated allegations of cruelty to a family member at a Dallinger Road home in New Haven on Nov. 6.
• Investigated a reported dispute between some Weybridge Street neighbors on Nov. 7.
• Responded to a noise complaint at a Jackson Lane apartment on Nov. 7.
• Assisted MREMS and Bristol Rescue on a call to Deerfield Lane on Nov. 8.
• Responded, with MREMS, to help a suicidal woman on Middlebury College campus on Nov. 8.
• Were informed of the theft of a Black Lives Matter sign from a Painter Hills Road lawn on Nov. 8.
• Responded to a reported domestic dispute at a Case Street apartment on Nov. 8.
• Assisted MREMS with a drunken patient in the South Pleasant Street area on Nov. 9.
