MIDDLEBURY — Ilsley Public Library is offering a free four-week course, “Writing for Work,” beginning Tuesday, Nov. 3 and continuing on Nov. 10, Nov. 17, and Dec. 1. Instructor David Weinstock has designed the course for those who write as part of their job, profession, business or community role. 
Its aim is that no matter what kind of writing — letters, proposals, reports, business plans, performance reviews, recommendations, advertisements, press releases, speeches and more –– the course will provide basic principles, guidance for specific situations, and individual attention. 
Participants will learn how to write more clearly, persuasively, efficiently, and timely. The course will consist of four 90-minute online group sessions, plus an individual half-hour tutorial for each student. 
Weinstock has written professionally for ad agencies, corporations, nonprofit organizations, higher education, news media, and literary journals. He has taught writing at the Boston Center for Adult Education, Emerson College, the Poetry Society of Vermont, and the League of Vermont Writers. Since 1997 he has led the Otter Creek Poets workshop at Ilsley.
