VERGENNES — Vergennes Police on Saturday cited a city resident for driving under the influence of alcohol after responding to a First Street family dispute involving concern for a young girl.
Cited following a Panton Road traffic stop was 34-year-old Raymond W. White. Police said they received two calls, one from a family member and one from a neighbor, regarding a situation at a First Street home. 
The family member, according to police, expressed concern that the girl might ride with her father, White. The neighbor reported general concern about a dispute at the address and the girl’s welfare, police said. Police reported early on Sunday the girl was fine. 
Between Sept. 21 and 27, Vergennes Police also conducted 28 motorized patrols, six foot patrols and a property watch, and:
On Sept. 21: 
•  Aided the Vermont State Police, Vergennes Fire Department and Charlotte Rescue Squad at a one-vehicle accident on West Main Street. The driver was transported to UVM Medical Center.
•  Responded to a minor two-vehicle accident in a West Street parking lot.
•  Took a report from a Walker Avenue resident that someone had attempted to vandalize her vehicle.
On Sept. 22: 
•  Dealt with a late-night Main Street complaint about loud neighbors.
•  Received a report from a city resident that she had received a check for $3,600 in lieu of cleaning services and had been told to cash it and sent the money to a third party in California. She told police she tried to cash the check but was told it was fraudulent, and then started receiving threatening emails from the sender of the check. Police told her it was a scam and to block the sender from her phone and email.
On Sept. 23 dealt with a minor one-vehicle accident on Canal Street.
On Sept. 24 spoke to a city resident who had posted disturbing images on the TikTok social media site. He confirmed he was experiencing emotional distress and told police he was going to seek help.
•  Issued Addison County court paperwork to a Panton Road resident.
•  Contacted a driver who had left the Small City Market without paying for gas. The driver made the payment over the phone.
On Sept. 25: 
•  Responded to the report of a missing 4-year-old in Addison.  Police said the child had been missing for about 40 minutes. Shortly after police arrived, the child was found hiding on the property and was fine.
•  Cited Andre H. Desautels, 62, of Bridport for driving under the influence of alcohol.
On Sept. 26:
•  Sent the Vergennes K-9 unit to help Middlebury Police at a Court Street traffic stop. Middlebury police wanted the dog to sniff a vehicle driven by an operator who police said had history of illegal drug involvements and had been arrested for DUI. Middlebury police grounded the vehicle on the roadside, but when the city K-unit arrived it was gone, apparently driven off by an unlicensed passenger. 
•  Helped state police search a home on Jockey Lane in Monkton following a reported burglary with a child present inside the building. No one was found.
•  Helped state police with a DUI stop on Sand Road in Ferrisburgh in which the driver was cited.
