Middlebury Police Log: Police seek information on swastika stickers
MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury Police responded to a report that someone had affixed Nazi swastika stickers to posts at the entrance of Wright Park off Seymour Street Extension on Sept. 14. Anyone with information on this incident should contact Middlebury Police at 388-3191.
In other action last week, Middlebury Police:
• Spoke with a local man who had reportedly been threatening self-harm on Sept. 14. Police concluded the man didn’t appear to be a threat to himself.
• Were informed of the theft of a purse from a vehicle parked off Juniper Lane on Sept. 14.
• Located a street sign on Seymour Street Extension on Sept. 15 that police believe had been damaged by gunshots.
• Investigated a report of two drunken people at The Centre shopping plaza off Court Street Extension on Sept. 17. Police said they couldn’t find the two people in question.
• Conducted an untimely death investigation at a Creek Road home on Sept. 17. Police said 83-year-old Firmain Bilodeau had died of natural causes.
• Referred, to the Addison County Unit for Special Investigations, a complaint about a potential sexual assault that had allegedly occurred in Middlebury “several years ago.” Police referred the complaint on Sept. 17.
• Assisted a local resident on Sept. 17 whose bank account had been fraudulently used to buy three iPhones.
• Received a report that some money had been stolen from a South Pleasant Street apartment on Sept. 17. Police said they found no signs of forced entry into the apartment. The case remains under investigation.
• Calmed a drunken man who had reportedly been acting “disruptive” at a Valley View residence on Sept. 17.
• Warned three Middlebury College students who were allegedly seen drinking alcohol on town property off Bakery Lane on Sept. 18.
• Received a report about a missing child in the Court Street area during the afternoon of Sept. 18. Police said the parent called a short time later to say the child had been located.
• Notified a Lower Plains Road resident about the death of a family member in Maine on Sept. 18.
• Received a report that two Middlebury Union High School (MUHS) students had been found in possession of drug paraphernalia on campus on Sept. 18.
• Ticketed a minor who had been found in possession of tobacco off Court Street Extension on Sept. 18.
• Received a report that two students were missing from MUHS on Sept. 18. Police said the students were found a short time after the report was made.
• Checked on the welfare of a Weybridge Street resident on Sept. 19, who had reportedly been making suicidal comments on social media. Police said the man’s family intervened.
• Assisted Vermont State Police with an investigation into a domestic disturbance off Dewey Road in Salisbury on Sept. 20.
