MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Thomas Hynes, 34, of Middlebury for first-degree aggravated domestic assault and disorderly conduct, following an incident at a Court Street residence on July 29.
In other action last week, Middlebury police:
•  Assisted Middlebury Regional Emergency Medical Services (MREMS) and Middlebury firefighters in helping a man who had experienced a medical crisis while on the roof of a Charles Avenue home on July 27.
•  Investigated a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of South Main and Academy streets on July 27. Police said two people involved in the crash were taken to Porter Hospital for evaluation.
•  Cited Scott Gemignani, 41, of Bristol for violating his conditions of release following an incident in the East Main Street area on July 27.
•  Assisted a local man who said he’d been threatened by another man in the School House Hill Road area on July 28.
•  Investigated the “Zoom bombing” of an online Middlebury selectboard meeting on July 28, during which the culprit superimposed racist comments over public slides that were part of a Middlebury College’s fall re-entry plan presentation.
•  Responded to a dispute between two men at Hannaford Supermarket on July 28. One of the man was served a no-trespass order for the store, according to police.
•  Cited Leon Forrest, 39, of Leicester for driving with a criminally suspended license on South Street on July 28.
•  Cited Aaron Giard, 19, of Brandon for simple assault, following an incident at the Champlain Farms store on Court Street on July 28.
•  Investigated a noise complaint at a Weybridge Street home on July 29.
•  Assisted at the scene of a motorcycle crash on West Salisbury Road in Salisbury on July 29.
•  Responded to a reported collision involving a tractor-trailer unit and a car on Route 7 South, near Denecker Chevrolet, on July 29 (see separate article in this edition).
•  Received a report that someone had placed graffiti on the pump house off Mill Street on July 29.
•  Interviewed a resident who had fallen victim to an online pet-adoption scam on July 29. Police said the resident had paid an out-of-state company for a puppy that had not been sent. The case remains under investigation.
•  Were informed that a yard sign had been stolen from a Happy Valley Road resident’s property on July 29.
•  Were informed that a Black Lives Matter chair/shrine off Woodbridge Lane had been damaged on July 30.
•  Served a temporary restraining order on a man on Porter Medical Center campus on July 30.
•  Located three youths on July 30 who confessed to having recently flipped a picnic table at the Marble Works shopping complex. Police noted the table wasn’t damaged, and they released the youths to their parents.
•  Got mental health counseling for a Courtyard by Marriott guest who had allegedly been considering self-harm on July 31.
•  Were informed of the theft of a “Black Lives Matter” sign from a Forest Ridge Road resident’s lawn on July 31.
•  Referred, to the Addison County Unit for Special Investigations on July 31, a potential sexual misconduct case involving a juvenile male and two women.
•  Helped resolve a civil dispute between a landlord and tenant at a Court Street apartment on Aug. 1.
•  Assisted Vermont State Police in assessing the potential impairment of a driver involved in a double-fatal accident on Route 116 in Starksboro on Aug. 1. See Vermont State Police Log in this edition.
•  Received a report about an alleged theft from a Route 7 South apartment on Aug. 2. Police said they have a suspect.
•  Received a call about a “woman hanging out of a parked car” at a Halladay Road residence on Aug. 2. Police said they could not find the woman in question, nor could neighbors confirm such an incident.
•  Assisted MREMS with a woman who had injured herself after falling in her hotel room on Court Street Extension on Aug. 3.
