MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Matthew Billings, 37, who is homeless, for burglary and six counts of violating his conditions of release, following an alleged break-in at Mac’s Convenience Store on East Main Street on July 27. 
Police said Billings broke into the East Middlebury store after 3 a.m. this Monday and took some cigarettes and beverages.
Officers reviewed the store surveillance video and identified Billings, and then took him into custody.
Billings was lodged for lack of $5,000 bail, according to police.
In other recent action, Middlebury police:
•  Helped Middlebury Regional EMS (MREMS) get into a Kings Row home to access a patient on July 20.
•  Cited Louis Mongeon, 26, of Middlebury for four counts of violating the conditions of his release following an incident in the Jackson Lane area on July 20. Police said Mongeon was lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility for lack of $200 bail.
•  Received a report that someone had marked the Seymour Street rail overpass with graffiti on July 21.
•  Responded to a Colonial Drive business where a customer had allegedly threatened some of its employees on July 21. Police said they told the customer not to return to the business.
•  Investigated allegations of people racing cars on East Main Street on July 22.
•  Helped emergency responders with two utility workers who were injured during an incident on Blake Roy Road on July 22 (see story elsewhere in this edition).
•  Assisted MREMS with a man who had fallen at his South Village Green apartment on July 22.
•  Cited Kendra Lawton, 48, of Middlebury for driving under the influence following a stop for driving erratically on Court Street Extension on July 23.
•  Got mental health counseling for a man who had threatened self-harm in the Delancy Lane area on July 23.
•  Referred to the Counseling Service of Addison County a man who had been screaming in the Court Street area on July 23.
•  Cited Kevin Davignon, 59, of Middlebury for driving under the influence following a report of a possible impaired driver on East Main Street on July 23. Police said Davignon was later taken to the Grace House in Rutland to receive detox services.
•  Contacted the parents of two young children found walking on Seymour Street during the morning of July 23.
•  Responded to a car accident, with injuries, on Route 7 South on July 23.
•  Assisted a local resident who complained of fraudulent activity in his bank account on July 23.
•  Assisted MREMS with a man who had fallen off his bicycle on Court Street Extension on July 23.
•  Warned the hosts of a loud party on Weybridge Street on July 24.
•  Served a no-trespass order on a man who had been creating a disturbance at Costello’s Market in the Marble Works on July 24.
•  Spoke with a local man on July 25 who said someone had stolen one of his checks, which had been forged and passed. Police said the case remains under investigation.
•  Assisted Vermont State Police at the scene of a fatal car crash on Route 7 in Salisbury on July 25.
•  Interviewed a Court Street resident who claims someone stole packages that had been delivered to his home on July 25.
•  Responded to a domestic disturbance at a Jackson Lane home on July 25. Police said they served a temporary restraining order on a member of the family.
•  Contacted a local farm about loose cows on Munger Street on July 25. Police said some of the farm’s fencing had come down.
•  Assisted MREMS with a patient on Cross Street on July 25.
•  Investigated a report of a local resident receiving harassing phone calls on July 26.
•  Received a call on July 26 from a person who expressed concern about soil erosion along the Otter Creek.
•  Contacted the town’s public works department about a possible water main leak in the South Gorham Lane area on July 26.
•  Cited Chad Limoge, 33, of Colchester for driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license, following a stop on Rogers Road on July 26.
•  Investigated a theft complaint in the Exchange Street area on July 27.
•  Responded to a July 27 report about a man allegedly “fighting with the railroad crew” at the site of the new tunnel taking shape in downtown Middlebury. Police said the man was issued a no-trespass order and taken to Porter Hospital for a mental health evaluation.
