MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Louis Mongeon, 26, of Middlebury for domestic assault following investigation of a reported disturbance at a Jackson Lane residence on July 19.
In other action last week, Middlebury police:
•  Were informed of the theft of a sign from a North Pleasant Street property on July 13.
•  Received a report about a cow loose on Route 7 North on July 13.
•  Received a complaint about someone honking their horn in the Court Street Extension area on July 13.
•  Responded to a noise complaint in the Washington Street area on July 14.
•  Searched in vain for a vehicle that someone had been driving erratically on Creek Road on July 15.
•  Responded to a July 15 report of a man who had been sitting outside of a Court Street Extension store, saying “Black lives don’t matter.” Police said the man — known to them as having mental health issues — had left upon their arrival. Store officials will determine if they’d like a no-trespass order taken out against the man.
•  Informed the Addison County Unit for Special Investigations on July 15 about possible sexual abuse of a juvenile.
•  Received a report on July 15 that someone had smashed a window on a car parked at the Abbey Pond trailhead in order to steal a purse.
•  Received a July 15 report about a man who was upset about litter in the town park. Police said a witness reported the man “might have displayed a firearm” at the time, but was not sure.
•  Received complaints on July 15 about ATVs allegedly being driven on Creek Road.
•  Assisted a person having a mental health crisis on Court Street on July 15.
•  Helped resolve an argument between a Jackson Lane couple on July 15.
•  Helped remove an unwanted guest from the Middlebury Inn on July 16. Police said the intoxicated man was taken to Porter Hospital.
•  Responded to an unlawful mischief complaint on Cross Street on July 16.
•  Investigated a theft complaint in the South Main Street area on July 17.
•  On July 18 warned a person who was shouting at passing cars on Main Street and told them that causing a disturbance could result in a disorderly conduct charge.
•  Responded to a report of a vehicle leaving the scene of an accident on North Pleasant Street on July 18. Police believe the suspect was driving a red Jeep Compass with a tow hitch.
•  Received four separate complaints about patrons and/or employees failing to wear face coverings at local stores.
•  Found a broken window at the Addison County Jewish Community’s Havurah House on North Pleasant Street on July 19. Police, at this point, haven’t attributed the broken window to vandalism.
•  Investigated an alleged violation of a relief from abuse order in the Court Street Extension area on July 19.
•  Found litter that had been dumped at the Abbey Pond trail head off Abbey Pond Road on July 19. Police said they’ve identified the “owner” of the trash, and that person will be ticketed for littering.
