Letter to the editor: Zuckerman best suited to make strides on healthcare

If there is one thing that this new virus has made abundantly clear is the importance of healthcare for everybody. I listen to Gov. Scott’s weekly press conferences, and I am grateful that he is taking a thoughtful, measured, and science-based approach to managing the COVID-19 crisis in Vermont.
However, looking forward, we need to plan as a state for continuing our progress towards the goal of having everybody in Vermont have good (!), affordable health insurance. I continue to believe that the best way to achieve this is with a single-payer healthcare approach. Amongst those currently running to be our next governor, I think that David Zuckerman is the most likely to make progress on this issue. David has been a successful policy maker since starting his political career in the Vermont House back in 1997, when he sponsored bills in support of a single-payer health care system.
David promotes healthy dialogue to search for the best solutions — he is a good listener — he brings people together, which is part of the reason why he was elected as our lieutenant governor in 2016. I hope you will join me in supporting David to be the next governor of Vermont.
