Vergennes Police Log: Hinesburg resident cited for retail theft

VERGENNES — Vergennes police on June 18 cited a Hinesburg resident for a June 1 retail theft at Kinney Drug Store in the city.
Cited was Brent Labombard, 37, of Hinesburg. Police allege Labombard stole about $200 of merchandise, including cologne and electronics.
City police said Labombard is also a person of interest in a Chittenden County case, and they are working with several agencies in that investigation.
Between June 15 and 21 Vergennes police also conducted 17 motorized and five foot patrols throughout the city, and:
On June 15:
•  Heard from the Small City Market that a patron had become belligerent toward other customers who were not wearing masks.
•  Took a report that a vehicle had been damaged in a hit-and-run fender-bender in the Aubuchon Hardware parking lot.
•  After a noise complaint at about 11 p.m. asked a group of 18- to 20-year-olds gathered at an East Street playground to move along.
On June 17:
•  Returned a purse found on Satterly Road in Ferrisburgh to its owner.
•  Conducted a half-dozen pre-employment fingerprinting sessions; city police have returned to doing this service by appointment only between the hours of 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.
•  Stopped a vehicle reported to have been driven erratically, but concluded the driver was not impaired.
•  Were called for the first of a series of times to an East Street dwelling by a resident they said was suffering from dementia. On the 17th the resident said a man took a rock from a garden; that on the 20th there were voices outside her bedroom window; and that on the 21st two people were standing over her bed.
On June 18:
•  On behalf of the downtown paving contractor asked the owners of several vehicles parked along Main Street to move them.
•  Advised a Second Street resident who said his neighbor was constantly yelling at him to contact the mobile home park’s landlord first, but to get back to police if that effort failed to resolve the conflict.
•  Expunged a number of records on behalf of Addison County Superior Court.
•  Took a report that a man in a convertible had followed the caller’s 12-year-old daughter home from the Main Street ice cream stand; police said they could not identify the driver based on the information provided, but told the family to report any further incident.
•  Helped Vermont State Police at the scene of a one-car accident on Monkton Road in Ferrisburgh in which the driver was airlifted to UVM Healthcare.
On June 19 cited Crystal Soule, 39, of Vergennes for driving under the influence of drugs, third offense. Police were alerted by a Department of Public Works employee to a person allegedly slumped over the wheel of a vehicle at the intersection of West Main and Canal streets, and police said it was Soule. She was cited after a department Drug Recognition Expert alleged she was under the influence of narcotics and marijuana.
On June 20 and 21 responded to reports a Cataract Lane resident was threatening self-harm; each time police determined she would be OK.
On June 21:
•  Took a report of a Facebook scam that threatened blackmail; police advised the caller to inform Facebook.
