MIDDLEBURY — A homeless man is facing potential charges of aggravated assault after having allegedly injured another man with a knife on the Middlebury Inn property off Court Square on June 21.
Middlebury police said their suspect, 26-year-old Michael Noe, was told by a Middlebury Inn employee to leave the premises after having been seen in the rear parking lot at the inn at around 8:45 p.m. that evening. Police said Noe had previously been banished from the inn and was no longer wanted there. 
Police said Noe allegedly approached the inn employee and drew a small penknife from his pocket that he used to cut the man’s left arm. The inn employee was cut a second time when the knife allegedly fell from Noe’s hand and struck the man’s foot, according to police.
Police said Noe has a vehicle and was still at large as of Monday afternoon.
Police said they don’t believe anyone else is in danger, at this point.

•  Responded to the untimely death of a lodger at the Middlebury Inn on June 15. Police identified the deceased as Kirk Smith, 55, of Middlebury. Smith died of natural causes, according to police.
•  Responded to a report of a juvenile having a mental health crisis at a Stonegate Drive home on June 15.
•  Were informed of the theft of a flower pot from Champlain Valley Fuels on Exchange Street on June 15.
•  Cited Steven Browne, 35, of Shoreham for driving under the influence of drugs, after he was allegedly found passed out in the driver’s seat of his vehicle while parked at a Court Street Extension business on June 16. Police said an evidentiary sample of Browne’s blood was taken, and the results are still pending.
•  Were informed of the theft of a package and mail from a Court Street mailbox on June 16.
•  Responded to a domestic dispute at a Jackson Lane home on June 17. Police stood by while one of the parties reclaimed personal belongings.
•  Assisted Porter Hospital staff with an uncooperative person on June 17.
•  Cautioned a person who had been driving erratically on Route 7 South on June 17.
•  Were informed of the theft of 12 lobster floats and two floral displays from the outside seating area at Fire & Ice Restaurant on Seymour Street on June 17.
•  Received a complaint on June 17 about a man in the Water Street neighborhood who allegedly “frequently undresses in view … only in his underwear.”
•  Requested help from the Addison County Unit on Special Investigations to assist with a sexting case in the East Main Street area on June 18.
•  Checked on a noise complaint at the town pool parking lot off Buttolph Drive on June 19.
•  Assisted Middlebury Regional EMS with a person who had fallen in the Morgan Horse Farm Road area on June 19.
•  Turned over, to its owner, a purse that a passerby had found on the ground off Case Street on June 19. Police said cash was missing from the purse, but everything else was intact.
•  Provided support while Vermont Department for Children & Families officials removed a juvenile from a Foote Street home on June 19.
•  On June 19, monitored Case Street near its intersection with Mead Lane, an area that police said has recently seen an uptick in speeders and reckless drivers.
•  Assisted Middlebury Regional EMS with a person on South Street believed to be considering self-harm on June 19.
•  Conducted a welfare check on a woman who had left Porter Hospital on June 20.
•  Assisted Vermont State Police with three drunken men who were causing a disturbance at Kampersville off Lake Dunmore Road in Salisbury on June 21.
•  Took into custody, on Route 7 South on June 22, a person who was wanted by the Newport Police Department.
