Letter to the editor: Cornwall school thankful for support

The Friends of Cornwall School (FOCS) would like to thank a number of members of our community for their assistance. We held a fundraising dinner on Town Meeting Day, Monday, March 2. The success of this event relied on the generosity of member families of our school and several area businesses. Thanks to all your generous efforts FOCS raised over $300 to benefit the student body of the Anna Stowell Sunderland Bingham Memorial School in Cornwall, Vermont. These funds will help enrich the educational experience both during and after school for approximately 80 Cornwall students.
In particular we would like to thank: North Hollow Farm for all the meat used in the dinner; Hannaford Supermarket in Middlebury for their donation of several shelf-stable food items; Champlain Orchards and Monument Farms Dairy for their donations to our Beverage table; Middlebury Bagel and Delicatessen for the dinner rolls; and the Middlebury Natural Foods Co-op for their gift card. There are too many Cornwall families to list by name, but please know that your assistance with this effort is greatly appreciated.
Parts of our table centerpieces were created and provided by members of the student body and their teachers. The 3-6th grade classrooms and Spanish/art room and library opened their doors to our diners for the evening. Thank you to the dozens of Cornwall residents who came to enjoy our meal and school. Last but certainly not least, we would like to thank Chef Dan Whittemore for his efforts to create this excellent meal.
It is amazing to see how much can be accomplished even in a small community. Our children show their gratitude by enjoying what we can offer their school as a result of all your generosity.
