Dreamers’ Circus to take the stage in Middlebury

NORDIC FOLK GROUP Dreamer’s Circus will perform at the MAC on Friday, March 6.

MIDDLEBURY — Dreamers’ Circus, the hot young Danish trio hailed as the new driving force in Nordic world music, will make their Middlebury debut on Friday, March 6, at the Mahaney Arts Center. Contemporary and endlessly innovative in their approach, the award-winning ensemble draws inspiration from the deep traditions of Nordic folk music and reshapes them into something bright, shiny and new. This concert promises to be one of the most popular events of the Middlebury Performing Arts Series’ 100th anniversary season.
Performing Arts Series Director Allison Coyne Carroll learned about the trio at a classical music concert three years ago. “During the Danish String Quartet’s Middlebury residency in October 2017, there was an overwhelmingly enthusiastic audience response to the Nordic folk music included on their program,” she said. “When the quartet’s violinist Rune told me of his folk trio Dreamers’ Circus, I was on the phone to their agent the next morning.”
Concert-goers are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy singer-songwriter Aida O’Brien ’20 performing in the lobby before the show.
Dreamers’ Circus will perform on Friday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m.. at the Mahaney Arts Center (MAC), Robison Hall. Reserved seating tickets are $28 for the general public; $22 for Middlebury College faculty, staff, alumni, and emeriti; $10 for youth; and $6 for Middlebury College students, and are on sale by calling (802)443-MIDD (6433) or visiting middlebury.edu/arts.
