Commodore runners race to six wins
BURLINGTON — The Vergennes Union High School boys’ indoor track team on Saturday won six events and finished third in a 12-team Division II field at a meet staged at the University of Vermont.
Senior Julio Quiles won at 55 and 300 meters, junior Ben Huston won the 600-meter race, and junior Gabe Praamsma prevailed at 1,000 meters.
Huston and Praamsma joined seniors Erich Reitz and Luke Bergmans to win the four-by-800-meter relay, and Huston, Praamsma, Quiles and junior Xander DeBlois won the 4×400 relay.
Spaulding (89) edged Thetford (81) and VUHS (78) for the top spot in D-II.
One Commodore girl competed, sophomore Audrey Tembreull. She finished 18th at 55 meters (8:85) and 10th in the 300 (51.84). Two Mount Abraham independents also competed in the girls’ 55: Sadie James was 20th in 8.97, and Abigail Sturtevant was 26th in 9.28.

• 4×800: 1. VUHS, 9:10.60 (Reitz, Bergmans, Praamsma, Huston).
• 55: 1. Quiles, 7.09; 34. Peyton Paquette, 8.75.
• 1,500: 8. Christopher Therrien, 5:15.73.
• 600: 1. Huston, 1:31.02; 3. Reitz, 1:35.42.
• 1,000: 1. Praamsma, 2:54.17; 2. Kai Williams, 2:58.96; 7. Therrien, 3:22.62.
• 300: 1. Quiles, 38.04; 4. Jarret Muzzy, 41.25; 7. DeBlois, 41.63; 37. Paquette, 51.81.
• 4×400: 1. VUHS, 3:44.48 (Praamsma, Huston, DeBlois, Quiles); 2. VUHS, 4:0525 (Reitz, Bergmans, Williams, Muzzy).
