VUHS runners win three races

BURLINGTON — Vergennes Union High School runners picked up three more Division II wins on Saturday at an indoor track and field meet a the University of Vermont.
Senior Julio Quiles prevailed in the 300-meter race, senior Erich Reitz took the 1,500, and junior Ben Huston won at 3,000 meters. In all, a Commodore took either first or second in all five races in which at team member competed.
Coach Brad Castillo said time constraints prevented relays from being contested. The Commodore runners have been consistently winning middle-distance relay events.
The Commodore boys’ results were:
• 300 meters: 1. Quiles, 38.56; 2. Jarret Muzzy, 41.16; 8. Xander DeBlois, 43.37; 23. Andrew Galuszka, 49.09.
• 1,500: 1. Reitz, 4:40.34; 3. Chris Therrien, 5:10.29.
• 3,000: 1. Huston, 10:12.58; 2. Reitz, 10:44.78.
• 600: 2. Huston, 1:39.26; 5. Muzzy, 1:38.50; 7. DeBlois, 1:41.55.
• 1,000: 2. Therrien, 3:23.71.
Also, Audrey Tembreull finished sixth in the girls’ 300 in 51.82.
