BRANDON — The Otter Valley Hall of Fame introduced 12 new members during halftime of Saturday’s Otter Valley Union High School homecoming football game. The newbies included eight athletes, a coach, two teachers and an administrator.
Honorees were selected because they demonstrated exemplary scholarship and citizenship, demonstrated character by conducting themself as an exemplary role model, and demonstrated superior commitment and successful accomplishments in their role toward students, staff and the OV community.
The new members of the Otter Valley Hall of Fame are:
Nancy Robinson — Robinson graduated from Otter Valley in 1968, returned to teach with a Business Education degree from Castleton State College and a Master’s in Curriculum Studies from College of St. Joseph.
Robinson moved up to Associate Principal in 1994 and to co-principal from 2010 until 2014, when she retired. She went above and beyond the normal job description of educator, immersing herself in helping to create a center for their growth.
Brad Frohloff — Frohloff spent 40 years as an OV educator 1975 to 2015 at the middle school and high school levels, serving as a department chair and coaching cross-country running and skiing.
Frohloff worked hard to educate his students in real-life, offering afterschool taxidermy courses, taking them on field trips to whale watching, deep sea fishing, hiking up to Camel’s Hump, and night-time trapping at OV. He helped set the standard for teaching with his easy demeanor, his vast knowledge, and his desire to connect with his students.
Jane Sarno —Sarno came to OV from the University of Minnesota via Ohio Wesleyan. She had a master’s degree and began teaching American Studies at OV in 1971. After 27 years as a teacher she took the Curriculum Director position until retiring in 2009.
Patricia Candon — Candon spent 33 years as head coach of the varsity softball program, amassing a record of 347-236, winning four state championships, 11 league championships and being named league coach of the year seven times. The varsity softball diamond is named in her honor. Candon is a member of the Castleton University Hall of Fame, Northeast Women’s Hall of Fame, and the VPA Hall of Fame.
Randy Adams — Adams earned a total of 12 varsity letters in soccer, basketball and baseball In baseball he hit over .500 his senior year. After his soccer career he became a local varsity official. Randy has been a vital part of the OV community as the Pittsford Recreation Director, coaching area youth and setting up vital programs for the area. He also coached OV varsity baseball.
Pat Bessette — A 1968 OV graduate, Bessette earned nine letters. A co-captain his junior and senior year in basketball, he ran cross country, played golf, participated with the gymnastics club, and was a monitor squad member during his four years of high school. Bessette was a key ingredient of the 1967 boys’ soccer team that advanced to the state finals, hitting a penalty kick to help the Otters advance. 
Robert Greeno — Greeno participated in four years of soccer and basketball as well as two years of baseball. He was a student council member and outstanding athlete. He was known to his teammates as a leader on the field with outstanding skills.
Maurice LaRock — LaRock was in soccer, basketball and baseball during his time at OV. He was a co-captain in both soccer and baseball, inspiring his teammates with his hustle and determination.
Phil Marks — Marks was a member of the 1963 state championship baseball team, OV’s first, and also competed in basketball at OV. Phil went on to play baseball collegiately. He has been an avid OV fan.
Kay Mulcahy — Mulcahy is one of Otter Valley’s best athletes. An 11-time varsity letter winner, she starred in field hockey and participated in basketball and softball. Kay went on to become Keene State’s all-time leading scorer until 2017, when her career mark was eclipsed.
Kirk Rusin — Rusin remains one of Otter Valley’s most storied wrestlers. A state champion in 1987 and 1988 and a New England champion in 1987, Kirk wrestled for four years, accumulating a career record of 92-10-1.
Dana Shaw — A 1989 graduate, Shaw ended his wrestling career with 100 wins and was the individual state champion in the 140-pound class his senior year. He also participated in both soccer and baseball at OV.
