Mt. Abe girls’ soccer blanks Tigers
ADDISON COUNTY — Mount Abraham coasted past Middlebury to highlight local girls’ soccer action earlier this week. Elsewhere Otter Valley dropped a home game, while Vergennes’ Tuesday game at Spaulding was postponed.
EAGLES VS. TIGERS
The 7-1 Eagles scored four times in the first 20 minutes on the way to a 6-0 victory at MUHS, their seventh straight. Lucy Guy scored twice and Addy Harris picked up a goal and an assist in the early surge. A Mae Peterson strike made it 4-0. Becca Laurent and Chloe Laurent scored late in the second half, both assisted by Emma Campbell, to create the final score.
Eagle goalie Justice Green earned the shutout with four saves. Tiger goalies Carly Burger (one stop) and Julia Bartlett (six) combined for seven saves as their team dropped to 2-5.
OTTERS
At OV two early Olivia White goals gave the Otters an early lead and gave White 12 goals on the season, but visiting Springfield scored three times in the second half to come away with a 4-2 victory. Ella Brytkowski and Julia Eastman assisted the OV goals as their team fell to 2-5-1.
