Boys’ soccer: Eagles and Tigers earn victories
ADDISON COUNTY — Mount Abraham rallied past visiting Vergennes to highlight local boys’ soccer play in the latter half of last week. In other action the Commodores lost another road contest, Middlebury split two games, and Otter Valley lost two one-goal games.

EAGLES-VUHS
On a Wednesday game in Bristol the Eagles edged the Commodores, 2-1. VUHS scored 10 minutes into the game, when Tucker Stearns headed home a Jon Willis free kick.
Branden Reynolds equalized shortly after the half, cutting into the box from the right on a feed from Liam Kelliher and left-footing the ball home. Silas Burgess netted the game-winner in the 78th minute. He took a ball from Colby Gile inside the box and finished through traffic.
Goalie Ethan DeWitt made six saves for the Eagles, while VUHS keeper Gabriel Kadric stopped five shots.
On Saturday host Milton sank the Commodores, 6-2. Stearns and Robbie Bicknell scored for the 1-5 Commodores, who will look to bounce back at Missisquoi on Tuesday. They also will host a rematch with the Eagles on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
TIGERS
On Wednesday Essex edged host MUHS, 2-1, in overtime on a Stefan DiGangi goal in the 87th minute. The Tigers had equalized in the 75th minute on an own goal. Essex goalie Andrew Seavers made five saves, and MUHS goalie Owen Lawton stopped four shots.
On Saturday the Tigers defeated visiting Missisquoi, 2-0. Oliver Poduschnick gave the Tigers the lead in the first half, and Alex Bleich, from Henry Carpenter, padded the advantage midway through the second half. Logan Pierson-Flagg stopped one shot in net as the Tigers improved to 4-2, and MVU goalie Kyle Gilbert made eight saves.
The Tigers will host Mount Abe on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
OTTERS
On Wednesday visiting Mill River edged the Otters, 2-1. Jonah Boyea scored with 15 minutes to go gave MRU the win. Sawyer Pierpont equalized for OV with a second-half penalty kick after Cole Letourneau drew a foul. MRU goalie Tyler Regula made six saves, while Benjamin Adams made eight for OV.
On Friday host Proctor defeated OV, 1-0, when Conner McKearin scored with seconds to go in the second overtime. The Phantoms improved to 5-0-1, while the tough loss dropped the Otters to 1-5.
OV will play at West Rutland on Tuesday.
