MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Brian Alexander, 22, of Lincoln, Mass., for driving under the influence, following a stop on Court Street on Jan. 21. Police said they pulled over Alexander because they had seen him driving erratically.
Police said they measured Alexander’s blood-alcohol content at 0.158 percent. The legal limit for driving is 0.08 percent.
In other action last week, Middlebury police:
It’s not easy being scatterbrained.
My mind is constantly running in different directions, and I forget things. Just keeping track of my car keys occupies a good portion of my brain each day, and the portion that’s left can’t handle the remaining workload. I forget not only what things I need to do, but also whether I have — or have not — already done them. You can’t imagine the trouble this gets me into.
BRISTOL — Usually when the Vergennes and Mount Abraham union high school boys’ basketball teams meet, the records can be thrown out — the games are competitive regardless of how well the Commodores and Eagles are faring.
But Tuesday’s game at Mount Abe was the exception that proves the rule.
The 11-1 Commodores picked that night to put forth what might have been their most complete effort of the season against their 1-10 rivals and coasted to a 58-32 victory.
Knowing that presidential candidate Mitt Romney would release his income tax returns this week, I was prepared to write a column pointing out that the Massachusetts Republican was not one of us. We all knew he was rich, but how rich?
Then I saw the numbers and it gave me pause. Sure, “Willard” (as it says on his 1040 tax return) Romney is a millionaire several times over. But the numbers I’m talking about are the ones provided by other candidates.
MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Union High School gymnastics team edged visiting Milton on Monday, 108.85-105.2, as senior Hailey LaFave won all four events and claimed the all-around crown.
Also posting top-six finishes for MUHS were Christie VanAmburg, Maelys Michels, Lindsay Wells, Gabrielle Ingenthron, Kayla Evans and Emma Snyder-White.
The Tigers’ last home meet of the winter is set for the Middlebury Union Middle School gym on this Friday at 7 p.m., when they host Randolph.
