 On Saturday, June 17, the Lincoln Conservation Commission gathered nearly thirty people in the center of Lincoln. Our mission? To remove two exotic invasive species from the town’s roadsides: poison parsnip and wild chervil.

The Equifax data breach is the largest data breach in our nation’s history. With 143 million Americans and 240,000 Vermonters at risk, I heard from many friends, neighbors and constituents asking the question, “What should I do? How can I protect my family?” The data breach left my family and me asking the same questions.

There is only one remedy…” There is only one remedy and, as Mr. Lynn correctly stated in his editorial, it is not our insipid Congress lining “up for NRA money and its political support at the next election.”

Letters to the Editor: Vermont regulations overburden childcare providers

I was pleased to see a discussion of inadequate childcare in Addison County on Oct. 9th’s front page, and even more pleased to learn of the forum that had taken place with childcare experts, educators, and legislatures to discuss this important issue that challenges so many families. However, there was no mention of what seems to be the most obvious challenge of late for child care providers: the nearly 100 pages of licensing regulations for home-based child care providers that were dropped on providers last year by the Department for Children and Families.

Jessie Raymond, Around the Bend: Parental warnings have big impact

Every time I make toast, a memory comes back to me: that of my father saying, “If your bread gets stuck in the toaster, never try to pry it out with a fork. You’ll get electrocuted.”

My toast usually pops up unassisted, thus giving me no cause to go fishing around in the toaster slot with any metal utensils. But the fork-in-the-toaster warning made an impression that has dogged me, perhaps more than any other parental declaration, my entire life. Even now, I freak out if my bagel won’t eject properly.
