Direct democracy in action
It’s almost Town Meeting Day, which means Addison County residents are again getting ready to participate in the longstanding New England tradition of direct democracy. Although Town Meeting Day technically falls on the first Tuesday in March, many towns now hold weekend meetings to make it easier for people to attend. Starting this Saturday, area residents will head to halls and meeting rooms across the county to vote on school and town budgets, elect new local representatives and weigh in on issues impacting their communities.
