VERGENNES — Before this Tuesday’s friendly rivalry meet with the Middlebury Marlins, the Vergennes Champs split two Champlain Valley Swim League outings last week, defeating visiting Essex on July 11, 360-122, but coming up short at St. Albans on July 9, 268-223. The Champs cruised from start to finish against Essex on the 11th, rolling up a 14-5 edge in the relay races.
