The Addison Central School District board on Monday overwhelmingly endorsed K-5 school choice within the district’s seven towns, but with limits.
The Addison Central School District board is considering a policy change that would give Middlebury-area parents more flexibility in determining which among the ACSD’s soon-to-be five K-5 schools they’d like to enroll their children.
Residents of Bridport, Cornwall, Middlebury, Ripton, Salisbury, Shoreham and Weybridge are being asked to weigh in on potential changes to a policy that could allow more “school choice” within the ACSD.
The Mount Abraham Unified School District Board is exploring whether to allow parents to send their children to any of the four elementary schools in the district, not the just the one in the town where they reside.
Supporters of School Choice have been seeking to undermine public education since the 1980s.
While school choice may at first glance appear to be generally supportive of Vermont’s excellent education opportunities, closer inspection reveals a more troubling backstory.
