Astronomy at the Rokeby with the Vermont Astrological Society

Gather at Rokeby Museum with the Vermont Astronomical Society to view the night sky on Saturday, Sept. 16, at 8:30 p.m.

Spirits is a short-form, environmental theater production drawing from historic records of 1850s séances held by the Robinson family in Ferrsiburgh, and other local historic accounts.

Having a great day is as easy as pie at Rokeby Museum’s annual Pie & Ice Cream Social. Come hungry, and plan to enjoy music and games on Sunday, Aug. 13, from 1-4 p.m.

Mid-morning on July 15, Rokeby Museum held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and name unveiling for the new collections storage building on the property. The new building was made possible thanks to a Preservation Sponsorship by PC Construction.

The Rokeby Museum in Ferrisburgh is busy this month. These three new offerings caught our eye.

On July 5, Rokeby Museum and the Friends of Union Meeting Hall are hosting two family-friendly events that honor the life and legacy of Frederick Douglass.

“Lift Every Voice” is an exhibition of 15 hooked rugs reproduced from Elizabeth Catlett’s 1947 “I am the Black Woman” series. Catlett’s 15 linocuts commemorate African American women’s historical oppression, resistance, and survival.

Rokeby Museum will host Music with the Museum, an evening of food and music with renowned musicians Paul Asbell and Bob Stannard at the historic Ferrisburgh Town Community Center on Thursday, May 25, at 6 p.m.

“This exhibition of hooked rugs is a beautiful and powerful display of Elizabeth Catlett’s 1947 series ‘I am a Black Woman,’” said Rokeby Museum Director Lindsay Varner.

Rokeby Museum has announced it will join museums nationwide in the Blue Star Museums initiative, which provides free admission to currently serving U.S. military personnel and their families this summer.

Rokeby Museum is saying goodbye to two board trustees and welcoming three new members to the board. Priscilla Baker and Dean Leary officially stepped down from the board of trustees on Nov. 16. 

This participatory dramatization allows you to witness what an actual séance was like for the Robinsons 170 years ago.

Rokeby Museum has received a three-year $75,000 grant from the Trout Lily Foundation to support organizational work at the institution.
